SUMMARY: When you make a mistake while recording, stop the recording and look on screen for someplace before you stopped where there is a slight gap. Click in that gap and then press Shift-D, or click Transport > Recording > Punch and Roll Record, as shown here:
Your last several seconds of audio will begin playing. Talk along with yourself, and when the audio reaches the point you have clicked, continue voicing your script and Audacity will stop playing back, and begin recording.
